The Bronx label transforms the rugged silhouette with distressed leather, automotive-inspired hardware and interchangeable laces.
Taller De Rafa has teamed up with Nike for its first footwear collaboration, giving the Air Max Goadome Low a distinctive interpretation inspired by the brand’s strong connection to automotive culture. The Bronx-based streetwear label, founded by brothers Genesis and Rafael Valverde, brings its garage-inspired identity to the boot-influenced silhouette through a combination of rugged materials, industrial details and worn-in finishes.
The sneaker is dressed in a brown leather upper that has been deliberately distressed to create a weathered, broken-in appearance. Rather than looking freshly manufactured, the worn edges and textured finish give the shoe the character of a pair that has already spent time in a workshop. Mesh is incorporated around the collar to provide contrast against the leather, while an exposed Swoosh and Taller De Rafa branding appear toward the heel.
Automotive influences become even more apparent through the shoe’s hardware. The traditional eyestays have been replaced with hexagonal designs that resemble bolt heads, while a speed-wrench-inspired hangtag reinforces the garage theme. The collaboration also includes several interchangeable lace options, ranging from traditional boot-style laces to wider two-tone versions and slimmer leather alternatives, allowing the overall appearance of the sneaker to be customized.
The workshop-inspired concept continues through the presentation of the footwear, with the packaging featuring an oil-stained finish that complements the distressed aesthetic of the shoe. By carrying the same mechanical and weathered theme from the sneaker to its packaging, Taller De Rafa creates a cohesive take on the Air Max Goadome Low that reflects the label’s automotive roots.
