Grab PayLater FAQs

1. What is Grab PayLater?

Grab PayLater is a new payment option at Hype Vault that is available online and in-app. Grab PayLater allows Malaysian residents to shop now and pay for your purchase later in instalments with no interest or service fees, and get GrabRewards. With GrabPaylater, you can pay for your purchase up to 4 equal interest-free instalments, due monthly. 

 

There are two ways to PayLater:

PayLater - Pay in 4 monthly instalments: Make a large bill smaller. Pay only 1/4 of the total bill today and get up to 1.2% back in GrabRewards points.

Postpaid - Pay the next month: Track your monthly spend and pay for it all in one bill and get GrabRewards at the same time!

 

2. Who can use Grab PayLater?

Grab users who are eligible for PayLater should be

  • You’ve been an existing Grab user for at least 6 months
  • You’re aged 21 years or over
  • Your account has been fully verified
  • You’re a Platinum, Gold, or Silver GrabRewards tier member
  • Your Grab app has been updated to the latest version.
  • If you’re eligible for PayLater, you’ll be able to activate it in-app, or simply launch your Grab app, tap on Payments, tap on Enjoy Now and Pay Later under Explore GrabPay.


If you don’t see the PayLater option, Grab is unfortunately unable to offer this service to you just yet. All approvals are subject to Grab's internal review.

 

3. What will Grab PayLater cost me?

You will not pay anything extra when you choose to use Grab PayLater as your payment option, as there is no interest added. PayLater is a free service offered by Hype Vault to you – there are no upfront fees charged or any interest accrued.

The only fee that may be incurred is Grab's admin fee to reactivate your suspended account for each missed payment. Your PayLater account may be suspended if you have overdue PayLater bill and you do not make any payments after being notified by Grab.
 

4. Will I get GrabRewards if I pay using Grab PayLater?

Yes, you will get up to 1.5* GrabRewards per RM1 spent for every PayLater transaction (both Instalment and Postpaid), depending on your GrabRewards membership tier. Find out more about the full breakdown of GrabRewards awarded per membership tier here.

 

5. How do I pay using Grab PayLater?

Shop with Hype Vault online and choose Grab as your preferred payment method at checkout. The payment is split into 4 payments equally every 30 days. Make your first repayment (one-fourth of your bill) with your credit or debit card at the time of purchase and the rest over the next three months in three equal interest-free instalments. For example: The dress is MYR 400. First month the payment deducted will be MYR 100, the second month MYR 100, the third month MYR 100 and the last month you'll clear the bill by paying MYR 100. It’s that easy.

 

6. It seems too good to be true, what’s the catch?

We know it’s hard to believe, but there really isn’t one. The only cost that you might incur (apart from the price of your purchase) is a fixed late repayment fee that never snowballs. There’s only one charge if you miss a scheduled payment, and that’s a flat RM10 admin fee to reactivate your suspended PayLater account.
 

7. What is the minimum and maximum spending limit for PayLater?

There is no minimum spend required with Hype vault and the maximum spending is capped at RM4,000.
 

8. If I am late on payment, what happens?

In the event, Grab is unable to deduct the bill amount from your payment method and you end up with an overdue bill, your PayLater account will be suspended and you will not be able to continue using PayLater. An admin fee of RM10 is payable for each overdue Postpaid bill or every Instalment bill to reactivate a suspended PayLater account.

There will be a 2-day grace period to complete your Postpaid or Instalment bill payment before Grab charges the admin fee. Please ensure your linked card is not expired and you have sufficient funds in your account. This is to avoid auto-deduction failure, which results in admin fee charges.

To continue using PayLater, please settle all outstanding bills. If you’re facing an issue with settling your PayLater bill, please contact Grab.

 

9. Can I apply to increase my maximum available spend?

To ensure safe spending practices, you will be assigned a unique PayLater amount based on your user profile and payment practices.

While Grab will always try to provide you with the maximum available amount, it is subject to change from time to time. This means, the longer you have been using PayLater and the more orders you have successfully repaid according to your payment schedule, the more likely you will get a higher available amount.
