After 15 years, the highly coveted sneaker is scheduled to make its comeback next week.

Patta and Nike have a long-standing partnership in the world of collaborative footwear, and rumors suggest they’ll continue that legacy in 2024. According to Air Max fan page Bubblekoppe, another Patta x Nike Air Max 1 release is expected next year. If true, this would build on the legacy of their iconic collaborations, starting with the 2009 “Chlorophyll” release, followed by other memorable drops like “Purple Denim” and “Lucky Green.” Patta recently revisited the Air Max 1 in their 2021-2022 “The Wave” collection.

Eight months after rumors first surfaced, Patta’s co-founders teased the potential reissue of the 2009 “Chlorophyll” Air Max 1 by wearing the sneakers on Instagram. They captioned it "Green and White for the win," hinting at its return. The teaser sparked more speculation, especially as Patta celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Recently, an in-hand look at the sneaker confirmed that its key features remain intact: the “Chlorophyll” denim mudguard, gray and nubuck overlays, and white base, with a white midsole and green accents in the Air unit. Although neither Patta nor Nike have officially announced the release details, the sneaker is expected to drop in September for $160.

After months of anticipation, the duo has now officially confirmed the release, commemorating both the 15th anniversary of the original “Chlorophyll” and Patta’s 20th anniversary. The new release remains faithful to the original with minimal changes, such as the sockliner design and new packaging. “It’s just an amazing moment to bring back a shoe so loved by the sneaker community,” says Patta co-founder Guillaume “Gee” Schmidt. The release begins on September 13 via a special PattaxNike website and Patta stores, with early access available in-store on September 12 at Patta’s new Lagos, Nigeria location.
