Jacquemus is currently basking in the success of its SS24 runway show held in France, but the fashion house has also grabbed attention with a sneak peek of its upcoming collaboration with Nike. Known for previous joint efforts like the Air Humara and J Force 1, Jacquemus and Nike have now confirmed their partnership on the Air Max 1 ‘86, revealing two distinct colorways.
The initial glimpse reveals notable design tweaks: both versions feature mini metallic Swooshes replacing the traditional medial and lateral logos, a signature move seen in their past footwear projects. The silver iteration boasts a predominantly silver upper with reduced overlays, contrasting navy accents on the sole, and a large rectangular Air unit window on the lateral side. In contrast, the white variant combines a white upper with gray on the mudguard and an off-white sole, complemented by a debossed “JACQUEMUS” detail on the heel and co-branded hangtags.
Recently, Jacquemus officially unveiled their collaborative Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 collection, showcasing three color options: white, silver, and red. These releases follow earlier leaks of sample pairs and provide a clearer look at the distinctive modifications made to the classic silhouette. The standout feature is the redesigned Air unit window, elongated and rectangular on the lateral side and squared off on the medial side—a departure described by Jacquemus as “ROUND AND SQUARE AIR FOR THE FIRST TIME.” Other modifications include an altered toe bumper extending onto the upper, varying material compositions (perforated leather on the white pair, mesh on the silver and red pairs), and small metallic Swooshes.
The collaboration also includes custom details such as co-branded tongues, leather lace tips, and a unique outsole pattern on the right sneaker. The shoes are further distinguished by a quilted liner in a thinner-than-standard Air Max 1 collar, adding to the bespoke aesthetic. Each pair is completed with special hangtags, enhancing their collectible appeal.
Founder Simon Porte Jacquemus has expressed a preference for the silver pair, citing it as his favorite in an Instagram comment accompanying the collection reveal. While release specifics are yet to be announced, the collection is expected to drop in the coming months via Nike SNKRS and select retailers, with anticipation building around its launch priced at $180 USD per pair.
