Introducing the duo set to debut this fall.

After a week of speculation, the fashion industry has officially named Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez as Loewe’s new co-creative directors, effective April 7. The duo, who previously operated out of New York, will succeed Jonathan Anderson. While they may not yet be widely recognized outside of fashion circles, their work has been seen on red carpets and worn by icons like the Olsen twins and Chloë Sevigny.

McCollough and Hernandez co-founded Proenza Schouler in 2002 during their final year at Parsons, with their thesis collection being bought in full by Barneys. The brand quickly became a standout in New York’s fashion scene, known for its understated yet contemporary designs that avoided trends. Despite shifts in fashion, including the rise of logomania and Y2K influences, the duo maintained their focus on comfortable, chic silhouettes, sought-after bags, and distinctive footwear.

In 2008, Proenza Schouler introduced the PS1 bag, which became iconic alongside other luxury bags like the Balenciaga City and Louis Vuitton Speedy. Nearly two decades later, the bag still enjoys timeless appeal. With Jonathan Anderson’s increasingly whimsical designs post-pandemic, many believe McCollough and Hernandez’s design approach and celebrity following will be a strong commercial fit for Loewe.

Although no official replacement has been named at Proenza Schouler, the designers will stay involved to help preserve the brand’s New York legacy. Their first lookbook was released in February, signaling continuity for Proenza Schouler. McCollough and Hernandez are expected to make their runway debut at Loewe this September, joining other major designers like Matthieu Blazy, Louise Trotter, Demna, and the yet-to-be-announced Balenciaga successor.
