The release returned with the classic “Fat Pikachu” look, presented in special anniversary packaging.
To celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, Takara Tomy is re-releasing its nostalgic 1/1 Pikachu Plush, giving fans an exact recreation of the original 1997 toy that launched shortly after Pocket Monsters Red and Green debuted.
Measuring about 40cm, the plush is life-sized according to Pikachu’s official Pokédex dimensions, staying true to the character’s original round and stout design, often nicknamed “Fat Pikachu” by fans. Unlike modern slimmer versions, this edition preserves the charm of the late ’90s mascot. Customers who order through Takara Tomy’s webstore will also receive a special bonus: a custom shipping box featuring Pokémon 30th Anniversary branding.
The “Welcome Back! Pikachu 1/1 Plush” is priced at ¥7,480 JPY (approx. $50 USD) and releases on February 28 via Takara Tomy’s official webstore, with a strict limit of one per customer.
