The iconic pair is making a comeback to mark its 10th anniversary.
In celebration of the Air Jordan 1’s 40th anniversary, Jordan Brand brought back one of its most iconic and sought-after colorways — the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard.” First released in 2015, the design was inspired by Michael Jordan’s legendary backboard-shattering dunk during a 1985 exhibition game in Italy. The original pair became an instant classic thanks to its bold mix of black, sail, and starfish orange tones, as well as its premium leather construction. Since then, the colorway has inspired multiple reinterpretations, but fans have long awaited the return of the original version.
As part of this year’s commemorative lineup, the 2024 “Shattered Backboard” retro stayed true to the details that made the first release so popular. Featuring a full leather upper, the sneaker maintained its classic color blocking and included the thematic sockliner that references Jordan’s historic moment on the court. Retail images began surfacing in May, confirming that the sneaker would arrive with minimal changes from its original form.
The return of this colorway also marked its 10th anniversary, making it a standout among the many releases tied to the AJ1’s 40-year legacy. Priced at $180 USD, the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard” was scheduled to release on July 12 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers, offering longtime fans and new collectors a chance to own a piece of Air Jordan history.
