Limited to only 1,996 pairs globally, referencing the player’s birth year.
Nike officially concluded the two-year legacy of Devin Booker’s first signature sneaker, the Book 1, with an exclusive “What The” edition. Known for combining distinct themes and colorways, the “What The” motif—a Nike staple since 2007—served as a comprehensive final chapter for the nearly 30 previous Book 1 releases and player-exclusive colorways.
True to previous “What The” releases, the left and right shoes were playfully mismatched. The left shoe featured a patchwork of details, including “Air Safari” mudguards, golden suede inspired by Chevrolet, “Sedona” graphics, and reptile textures, along with laces and heel lettering nodding to the “1995 All-Star” and “Moss Point” pairs. The right shoe contrasted with denim panels from “Blue Blood” and map prints from “Flagstaff,” complemented by “Desert Camo” tongues, rainbow collars, and snakeskin overlays. A gradient outsole transitioning from orange to yellow completed the design, paying tribute to the “Sunset” colorway.
The Nike Book 1 “What The” was limited to just 1,996 pairs worldwide, honoring Devin Booker’s birth year, with each pair marked by a 1 of 1996 heel tag, making it a collector’s item and officially closing the Book 1 era.
