Unveiling the upcoming fragment design collaboration on Instagram.
As Nike prepares for Air Max Day 2026, Hiroshi Fujiwara, the founder of fragment design, has unveiled a collaborative all-black version of the brand’s experimental Air Liquid Max silhouette.
Shortly after rapper Yeat showcased a striking volt green and black variant of the unreleased model in his latest music video, Fujiwara shared his own refined interpretation on social media. True to fragment design’s signature minimalist aesthetic, the sneaker features a stealthy blend of black and anthracite. The futuristic, seamless upper is accentuated with a subtle reptile-like texture, and Fragment’s iconic lightning bolt logo is prominently placed on the tongue to mark the collaboration.
The silhouette’s standout feature is its radically reimagined sole. By transforming Nike’s classic Air cushioning, the Air Liquid Max flattens the tube-shaped components seen in recent DN models into a full-length, liquefied Air unit. This innovative design wraps around the shoe’s base like a soft, pillowy crust, dramatically altering both the visual presentation and the way cushioning responds with each step.
