Keep an eye out for the return of the 2011 grail as part of the Air Jordan 5’s 35th anniversary celebration.
Jordan Brand confirmed that the Japan-exclusive Air Jordan 5 “Tokyo23” would be making a return in celebration of the model’s 35th anniversary. First released in 2011, the pair was originally considered a grail for many collectors, and its comeback had been rumored for some time before finally being revealed. Staying faithful to the OG, the sneaker features a striking yellow suede upper accented by white and gray details across the netting, tongue, and lacing system. Completing the look is the special Kanji-embroidered “23” on the lateral heel, a signature element that pays homage to its Japanese roots.
While much of the design mirrors the original release, Jordan Brand introduced a subtle update to this year’s version. The toe portion of the outsole has been changed from black to yellow — a decision made both as a nod to early unreleased samples and to maintain the rarity of the 2011 pair for longtime collectors. This minor tweak sets the retro apart while still preserving its essence, ensuring that the “Tokyo23” remains both a nostalgic tribute and a fresh addition to the Jordan archive. The Air Jordan 5 “Tokyo23” is set to drop on September 27, 2025, via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a retail price of $215 USD.
