This is not the first time the Austrian jewelry company - Swarovski has done a collaboration with Nike. Both of them have worked together a few times before with different iterations.
One of the most popular joint release they had was the 2016 Nike Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet” that also featured Swarovski crystals for the shoe’s 20-year anniversary.
This year they are back together again to deliver new innovation from Swarovski for Air Force 1 - which Nike always strives for in their work.
It is a surprise that there are no changes on the look of the shoes that will come out in “Triple White” and “Triple Black” colorway. Nike keeps the classic look of the Air Force 1 which features premium leather on the whole upper part. The sneakers are covered in white and black color schemes respectively with matching midsole and outsole.
No crystals directly buried on top of the shoes' surface this time. Swarovski took a new approach to presenting their new innovation of Retroflective Crystal with intricate overlay panels which cover from the toe box up to laces and at the back from heel area to the Nike signature Swoosh.
A total of 288 uncovered retroreflective crystals are placed randomly all over the swirly structure and was created exclusively for Nike. The layer panels that look like they're made from moulded rubber are fastened with metal screws across the upper and midsole of the shoe. However, it can be undone with a mini screwdriver included with the shoes - which also gives freedom to customize the placement of the modular 4-piece shroud.
The shoe itself features a premium leather upper presented in the respective tonal white and black color schemes while a matching midsole cushions the underfoot.
