Featuring a customised shoe box inspired by a bodega and hidden "Red Stardust" Swooshes.
Every project related to Social Status is connected by a common thread called purpose. Social Status has used its position as a preeminent storyteller in the sneaker industry to advance collaborations that matter, with releases like last year's Air Max Penny 1 supported by a back-to-school effort.
James Whitner and his crew are relentlessly keeping the discourse centred on personal tales while looking past the hype. The "Strawberry Milk" and "Chocolate Milk" Dunks were created in 2021 as a tribute to the United States' free lunch programme, an effort that provides financial support to countless impoverished families across the nation and a story close to Whitner's heart.
Additionally, Social Status is back with Nike, bringing the highlights of "The 1st & 15th" to the recently revived Attack silhouette. This adds to the narrative. The first chapter, which is centred on the "Silver Linings" colorway, immortalises the happiness experienced on the first and fifteenth days of each month, when benefits such as food stamps and disability payments would arrive, among other things. One feels as though the two weeks of slogging have paid off at that point. As usual, the brilliant brains at Social Status have partnered with Loyd Visuals to add a video component to "The 1st & 15th" story. The impact of today and the bustle it creates are demonstrated in the first episode, "Paper Stamps & Silver Linings."
In defining its distinctive design, the retro silhouette exhibits a vintage appeal due to not only its classic stature but also to aged detailing at the midsole and a deft use of materials. There is more to these pair than first meets the eye since the "Red Stardust" layer can be revealed by removing the silver collar and Swooshes. Although there are co-branding aspects all over the sneaker, the unique packaging serves as the perfect finishing touch. All 10 of Social Status' locations, both present and future, are referenced by bodega-inspired decor, and even the laces are thought of with a candy box-inspired presentation.
