It was released on HBX in December.

Basketcase and New Balance continued their collaboration with a second edition of the low-profile 204L silhouette. This version, called “Pine Valley,” reflected founder Zach Kinninger’s return to his roots, a concept he described as “RUN HOME,” and captured the creative comfort he found in his small-town upbringing.

The “Pine Valley” 204L drew on nostalgic elements from Kinninger’s youth, combining rugged hiking footwear aesthetics with blue jeans styling. The shoe blended early-2000s design with ’70s running shoe geometry, featuring deep brown premium nubuck layered over mesh and classic hiking-inspired eyelets. Its flannel-lined insoles evoked grunge and outdoor wear, while interchangeable rope and yarn laces and custom tongue labels with Basketcase’s ballerina motif added personalized details.

Built on a contrasting black EVA foam midsole for comfort, the release was supported by a surreal campaign shot by Ben Zank and a short film by Mowgly Lee. The Basketcase x New Balance 204L “Pine Valley” first dropped exclusively through Basketcase on December 12, then released globally via New Balance on December 19 and on HBX on December 20.
