CLOT has now revealed official photos at its design take on the legendary Nike Cortez. Nicknamed as the CLOT x Nike 'CLOTEZ', the joined partnership builds on the storied fashion label’s mission of nurturing new voices in China. CLOT Founder and Creative Director Edison Chen joined forces with upcoming designer Harry Wong to craft this 3-in-1 design heavily inspired by the yin-yang philosophy.
Edison Chen originally met Harry Wong in 2018 at the Nike: On Air contest, the Air Max design named “Kung Fu Soul” by the contestant marked as the original foundation for the CLOT x Nike Cortez 'CLOTEZ'.
Sporting a clean, minimalistic black and colorway, the symbolic expression of Tai Chi is explored with a focus on the fluidity and change in the ancient martial art. The yin-yang symbol is revisualized as a transformable design that captures a kung fu shoe-inspired model.
The three-in-one sneaker starts with an indoor house shoe based on the design of the Cortez. The shoe sports premium white leather uppers, matching black Swooshes, and nylon tongues. More detailing is seen in the element of tongue tags, and Chinese characters “功” and “夫” (kung Fu) embroidered at the heels.
The unique slip-on to be worn on the inner shoe is featured in matte black and depicts traditional kung fu apparel. Other than serrated outsoles, the slip-on also sports drawstring fastenings with the yin-yang symbol. Lastly, each pair comes accompanied with a detachable insole for the slip-on for more comfort.
The CLOT x Nike Cortez 'CLOTEZ' is anticipated to be released on February 10 via JUICE globally. In the meantime, check out more photos below.
