A tribute to one of the PEs Kobe wore during his “sneaker free agency” in the 2002-03 season.
Since the return of Kobe Bryant’s Nike Basketball line, sneakerheads have enjoyed numerous releases, including the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro “Halo” and upcoming colorways, such as the “What The” iteration from 2015. Now, just before the release of the Kobe 8 Protro “Team Bank” colorways, a first look at a new Kobe Bryant x Nike Air Force 1 Low has emerged. Teased by Vanessa Bryant on Instagram, the white, purple, and gold design features yellow accents on the Swooshes, tongue tag, heel tab, and outsole, with purple on the tongue branding and outlining the Swooshes. The lateral heel sports an embossed Nike Kobe logo.
Nike has now revealed official images of the Air Force 1 Low “Home,” showcasing new details such as heel tabs with Kobe’s #8 and his Kill Bill-inspired sheath logo. The design is inspired by Kobe’s “sneaker free agency” during the 2002-2003 NBA season, where he tested out various shoes, including a PE-style Air Force 1 High, though the sheath logo wasn’t introduced until 2005.
The release is already available for $130 USD.
