Blending features from the Air Jordan 1’s classic “Chicago” and “Shadow” color schemes.

Jordan Brand is gearing up for a major celebration of the Air Jordan 1’s 40th anniversary in 2025, with several highly anticipated releases already in the works. Alongside rumored drops like the “Shattered Backboard” reissue, “UNC Reimagined,” and Air Jordan 1 Hi ‘85 “Bred,” another exciting collaboration is on the horizon—Union LA’s latest take on the Air Jordan 1 High OG. Building on their 2018 partnership, Union LA is set to revisit its signature stitched-together aesthetic, combining elements from the classic “Chicago” and “Shadow” colorways into a bold new design.

Official images of the Union LA x Air Jordan 1 High OG “Varsity Red” have now been revealed, offering a detailed look at the sneaker’s unique construction. The design features a mismatched collar, with a “Shadow” ankle section stitched onto a “Chicago” base using powder blue thread for contrast. Other key details include a paper-like tongue tag, exposed tongue seams, an “aged” midsole, and insoles featuring illustrations that reference the shoe’s design process. The sneaker also comes with a custom hang tag and special packaging, further emphasizing its premium craftsmanship.

Union LA has recently launched a microsite dedicated to the project and teased the release on Instagram, signaling that more details will be announced soon. While neither Union LA nor Jordan Brand has officially confirmed the launch date, reports indicate that the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Varsity Red” will release on February 28, 2025, via Union LA, Nike SNKRS, and select retailers. Stay tuned for further updates as we get closer to the drop.
