No Public Release For This One-Of-A-Kind Air Jordan 1 FlyEase Inspired by Jordan Carranza

Every sneaker-head wishes they could design a special pair of sneakers with their beloved brand. For 13-year-old Jordan Carranza, this wish came true as he is now in the list of exclusive personnel with their own Air Jordan 1.

The design comes with FlyEase technology that helps differently-abled wearers to put on the shoes without needing two hands.

Through the Make-A-Wish program, Jordan Carranza who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD); a severe, progressive muscle-wasting disease that leads to difficulties with movement - got connected with several Jordan Brand designers.

When he met with the Jordan Brand design team in July, he already had a sketch and vision of what the shoes would look like. The result of the meeting produced a special blue-based Air Jordan 1 FlyEase PE features with custom logos on tongue, heel counter, and outsole.

“What inspired me to make this shoe is that Nike has always been my favorite brand, and I have always wanted to make a shoe. The reason I made a handicap style is that it shows me that just because you’re disabled doesn’t mean that your dream can’t come true,” Carranza said.

By using his initial sketch as a starting point of the design, Carranza’s PE has his initial “JC” lettering at the left pair tongue label and also embedded inside the Jordan Wings logo at the collar. He created a figure in a wheelchair to be put on the shoe, then this idea evolved into something more powerful as the logo is combined with the Jordan Wings logo.

The hybrid logo stamped on the lateral heel and printed all over the shoe lining. On the right pair of the tongue label, a different combination of logo appear there -  it's a wheelchair logo but with a Jumpman logo inside the wheel. Another wheelchair logo can be seen underneath the icy blue outsole, this time with Michael Jordan #23 number.

Jordan Brand designer put in the final touch by featuring Carranza own hand writing on the insole with his own testament “Just because you're disabled doesnt mean that your dream can't come true.”

This PE iteration comes dressed in a clean and classic White and Blue color scheme accented by the Black hits on the Swoosh branding, tongue tag and ankle collar. Jordan Carranza’s Air Jordan 1 FlyEase PE is not expected to be released to the public as it’s currently said to be a design exclusively made for friends and family and will not be available to the public.
