The timeless Air Force 1 steps into winter with a rugged new build designed for the elements.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low GORE-TEX “Baroque Brown” gives one of Nike’s most recognizable silhouettes a winter-focused overhaul. Arriving in 2026, the updated AF1 combines weather-resistant construction with a more aggressive outsole, transforming the everyday classic into a sneaker designed to handle colder and wetter conditions.
The seasonal makeover is immediately apparent across the upper. The majority of the shoe is dressed in Baroque Brown leather, contrasted by black Swooshes, heel tabs, lining, and midsole detailing. GORE-TEX has been integrated into the leather construction to provide added protection against the elements, with product imagery highlighting the material’s ability to repel water. Brown rope laces and a thicker tongue further emphasize its cold-weather purpose, while small yellow GORE-TEX tags around the collar add a subtle pop of color to the otherwise understated palette.
Additional technical detailing comes in the form of a metal lace dubrae featuring GORE-TEX branding. At the rear, embossed Nike Air logos appear across the black heel tabs, maintaining the clean aesthetic without adding unnecessary visual distractions. Rather than relying on bold graphics, the design communicates its upgraded functionality through a combination of materials, hardware, and subtle branding.
The biggest change can be found underneath the shoe. Moving away from the traditional AF1 outsole, Nike equips the “Baroque Brown” with a Vibram outsole featuring a deeper, more aggressive traction pattern. The redesigned sole is intended to provide improved grip across the slippery and cold surfaces the shoe is built to tackle. Black rubber surrounds the edges, while University Red dominates the central section, with yellow Vibram branding at the midfoot and lateral heel creating a visual connection to the GORE-TEX details above.
Overall, the updates give the Air Force 1 a purpose beyond simply introducing another seasonal colorway. Combining GORE-TEX weather protection with a dedicated Vibram traction system, the “Baroque Brown” transforms the familiar AF1 into a more functional all-weather option. It retains the silhouette’s everyday appeal while giving it a practical role in colder, wetter winter conditions.
