The upcoming sneaker takes strong inspiration from Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic Mercurial Vapor 1 boots.
Nike reimagined the Air Max 90 with the “Korea Family Reunion,” a football-inspired release influenced by the iconic Mercurial Vapor 1 boots worn by Cristiano Ronaldo during his early days at Sporting CP, with the sneaker set to release on May 21, 2026.
The design leaned heavily into its pitch-ready roots, featuring a lightweight synthetic upper paired with wavy overlays that captured the aggressive early-2000s aesthetic of the original boots. Its color palette stayed true to the Mercurial lineage, combining dark tones with sharp orange accents to create a fast and dynamic visual identity.
Departing from traditional Air Max 90 builds, this version introduced distinctive football-inspired elements such as orange piping along the mudguard, a reshaped heel referencing classic soccer cleats, and a fold-over tongue that reinforced its on-pitch influence. To complete the concept, exclusive Korean branding details were incorporated beneath the tongue and across the insoles, tying the entire theme together.
