The third pair paying homage to Gigi Bryant.

The release of the "Mambacita" edition of the Nike Kobe 8 Protro is approaching. Following earlier previews this year, Nike has now fully unveiled the pair, showcasing its design along with its heart-shaped charm and special packaging. The release is scheduled for May 1, Gigi Bryant’s birthday, available on Nike SNKRS and select retailers starting at $190 USD.

Since 2022, when Vanessa Bryant and Kobe Bryant's estate collaborated with Nike to revive the Nike Kobe line, each year has seen special "Mambacita" colorways honoring the late Gigi Bryant. Previously, the Kobe 6 Protro and Kobe 4 Protro received this treatment with black and white color schemes, paying homage to Kobe's second daughter. Now, it's been announced that the Kobe 8 Protro will continue this tradition, featuring black and white hues with golden Swoosh accents and a butterfly pattern on the upper as a tribute to Gigi. The heel also bears "GIGI" text on the left shoe and her jersey number, two, on the right.
