The PACE label from São Paulo emphasized upscale details and crocodile-inspired textures in the design.
After the success of their 2023 debut collaboration, Brazilian label PACE continued developing its global design language alongside ASICS. For their next project, the duo focused on the ASICS GEL-Kayano 12.1, presenting a premium reinterpretation that balanced the vibrant spirit of São Paulo with precise Japanese craftsmanship.
Founded by Felipe Matayoshi, PACE took a more refined and forward-looking approach for its second ASICS release. Instead of bold color blocking, the collaboration relied on a clean black-and-white base, allowing detailed textures to define the design.
The sneaker’s layered upper combined perforated panels with grid-like underlays, while croc-inspired overlays added depth without overpowering the silhouette. Glossy black accents highlighted the ASICS side stripes, and alternating embossed PACE and ASICS branding appeared on the lateral and medial sides. A subtle red accent at the heel and midfoot shank broke up the monochrome palette with a final pop of color.
Blending a premium aesthetic with the performance DNA of the Kayano line, the PACE x ASICS GEL-Kayano 12.1 released on March 6 via PACE and select global retailers.
